BC Multihull Society 50th Anniversary Sail In

Boats from all over BC and Washington came to Pt Browning Marina on the 2019 Labour Day weekend to join in the 50th Anniversary Sail in of B.C. Multihull Society. There was the usual group dinner on the beach on Saturday night, Sunday fun race and Awards Dinner but the highlight of the weekend was the multihull raft up. It made it so easy to view other multihulls and socialize with other sailors plus creating an impressive sight in the bay. Fun Race Winner in the Cruiser Division was Mustang Sally and first in the Racer Division was TNT, second Dream Chaser (Greg Keel) and third Bad Kitty.

BC Multihull Society Spring Sail In

Although the 2019 spring Sail in was a lot of fun, one of the members hit an unseen object on the way home which caused considerable damage to their boat. They made it home safely but it was a bad ending to a great weekend. First place in the Cruiser Division was Simone and Flying Geese placed second. Cheekee Monkee 2 won the Racing Division while Bad Kitty took second & Lotus third. The award dinner Sunday night was again held at Jo’s Place in Driftwood Mall and enjoyed by all with great food & ambiance.

BC Multihull Society 2017 Christmas Party

There were two BC Multihull Christmas Parties this year — one on the mainland and one on the island. Rae & Sharon Simpson were gracious enough to host a party for the club members at their home in Surrey while Gary & Liz Astill gave Island members a place to come together to celebrate the season. Both parties were on December 9th, 2017. There was lots of food plus prize giving and presents.

Cowichan Bay Sailing Regatta

This year, the BC Multihull Society provided trophies for the top three multihulls in the Cowichan Bay Sailing Regatta. This event is held every year on the BC Day long weekend in August and is put on by a dedicated team of volunteers. First place went to Eric Pesty on Geneva, a F-24 trimaran. Eric was sailing single handed. Greg Keel and his crew earned second place and they were racing on a Corsair F-27 called Dream Chaser. Third place was Chris Sherman & crew on Son of Raven.

BCMS NewCastle Sail In 2017

There is no anchoring in Mark Bay so some boats came early in order to ensure they could get a mooring buoy. This allowed us to have a BCMS island walk on both Friday and Saturday afternoon. The Pepperdine’s again kindly supplied us with Pizza at their place on Protection Island Friday night. We all enjoyed the lovely views from their deck and socializing with new and old members. Saturday night was the group BBQ on NewCastle Island followed by a spectacular firework display provided by the City of Nanaimo.

BCMS Spring 2017 Sail In

No wind for the Sunday fun race was the only thing that was wrong with this otherwise perfect BCMS Spring Sail in at Pt. Browning Marina. Summertime weather had come at last to the coast on the Victoria Day weekend. It was extremely pleasant to be outside at the Pt. Browning Oak Tree camping site for our annual meeting, group dinner on Saturday night and prize giving Sunday night. Everyone got something including a lucky person who received an epoxy kit worth over $200.00. Jo’s Place restaurant opened just for us Sunday night and provide a finger licking good rib dinner. First place in the Cruiser Division went to Dutch Treat, Second Simone and Third Mustang Sally. For the Racing Division, TN 34 was First, Second Flying Kiwi and Third Bad Kitty.
